COMIC BOOK RESOURCES
Segura and Parent Rock 'N Roll with "Archie Meets KISS"

by Shaun Manning

Come November, Riverdale will rock 'n roll all night -- not to mention, party every day -- for the four-part storyline "Archie Meets KISS" running through "Archie" #627-630. Written by Archie Comics' Executive Director of Publicity and Marketing Alex Segura with art by Dan Parent -- an Archie mainstay most recently known for creating Kevin Keller, the publisher's first openly gay character -- the story will find Sabrina's errant protection spell inviting a horde of demons to town, with the comics-inspired KISS personas of the Demon, Moonchild, Spaceman and Catman arriving just in time to help save the day.

This will not be Archie Comics' first somewhat odd inter-company crossover -- most recently, the characters met DC Comics' Tiny Titans and, most notoriously, they once faced Marvel's Punisher -- but it does continue a tradition of unexpected team-ups which Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie and their friends seem to take in stride.

CBR News spoke with Segura and Parent about "Archie Meets KISS" and how the two worlds will collide.

MY WALL MURAL
KISSONLINE FAN LETTER
Hello KISS,

I love everything about you and I am constantly creating new works of art that focus on you, this is one of them. I painted this mural on my bedroom wall in 2009, its 6x7 feet and I looked at and copied free hand from a 4x4 inch CD booklet picture. I jammed out the entire time I was painting it to one band, none other or better than KISS! Hope you like it!

The ad states: "Fans change. Itau changes with them. Itau - Sponsor of Rock in Rio 2011"

Rodrigo Dippold of KISS Army Brazil says "This ad is a farce. No invite for KISS to the Rock in Rio festival and yet the ad uses their makeup."

Thanks to KISS Army Brazil for sending us this...and Jill Cataldo for the translation!

FANS WIN COSTUME CONTEST
KISSONLINE FAN LETTER
KISS IS EVERYWHERE!

Hi KISS!

We work at State Farm in Florida and we have a costume contest every year. Last year's theme was Rock and Roll and we decided to dress up like “THE BEST”!!!

We had a complete intro including body guards, fans screaming, and your music playing. Needless to say, we WON! The president of the Florida division is a HUGE fan of Kiss and he LOVED our costumes. We’re all women that work here and we had SO MUCH fun.

I just wanted to pass along this picture..

PS: Gene - We LOVE your show and watch it religiously.

I hope all is well with you!

God Bless,
Bree

'KISS' race to victory in Beaconsfield stretcher race

By Lawrence Dunhill

FOUR wannabe heavy metal stars clinched victory in the 'world's fastest pub crawl' – as thousands flocked to Beaconsfield to honour an old tradition.

The stretcher race, with 18 teams in fancy dress costumes, was the centre of attention at the Beaconsfield Country Fayre in Windsor End yesterday.

Teams of stretcher bearers raced between pubs in the Old Town, each carrying a 'casualty' while downing a half pint in every drinking hole.

The starts were staggered so teams were racing against the clock, which meant a nervous wait before 'KISS' were announced the winners.

Dressed as members of the American rock band, the team of Beaconsfield friends finished with a time of 11 minutes 33 seconds.

Captain Rich Power, 43, said of the costumes: “We just really like rock music and we live on the edge.”

He added: “We did the race last year as mummies but didn't do so well. I think the difference this year was we were a bit more prepared. Everyone was more match-fit and we new the route a bit better.”

Helping carrying Rich's ten-year-old daughter Molly, were David Kennett, 39, Charlie Murray, 39 and James Andrews, 43.

Thanks to Wojtek Szenfeld for sending KOL this "KISS IS EVERYWHERE!"

MARCHING BAND GETS ED!
KISSONLINE FAN LETTER
KISS IS EVERYWHERE!

Dear KISS,

This year's Stevenson High School's halftime show theme is "Road Trip", with songs based on locations around the USA. Of course, one of these is "Detroit Rock City". When we go up to band camp every year, we do karaoke, and this year the trumpets rewrote the lyrics to the song to have marching band-related lyrics! To top it all off, halfway through the song, four of us came out dressed in full KISS outfits and makeup! (Eric Riedel as the Space Ace, Emily Moran as the Catman, Ryan Perry as the Starchild, and myself as the Demon). We were definitely the highlight of the evening!
