Mini KISS were in Mankato, MN tonight as part of a promotion with our Northern League baseball team. Our daughters, Jordan and Sadie, posed for pictures with the guys. Very friendly and they seemed to be as big of fans of the band as the rest of us. A good time was had by all. Kevin Burns Mankato, MN

HAMPSTEAD - Just before taking the stage for his latest show, guitarist Geo DeCampo sounded more like a politician than a musician. He is attempting to garner as many votes as possible. If DeCampo can get enough of them, his rock band might just open for KISS, the legendary performers he's idolized for most of his life. DeCampo, the guitarist for Carroll County rockers P.U.S.H., entered his band into the Guitar Center On Stage KISS Contest. At each stop during the 22-city KISS tour, an unsigned band will serve as the opening act. The winning band at each site will be chosen, in part, by an online popularity contest. The top five online vote getters at www.eventful.com/competitions/kiss2010/bristow will be considered as an opening act for its 6:30 p.m. Aug. 21 concert at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Va. KISS band members will pick one of the five finalists to serve as the opening act. Online voting continues until approximately two weeks before the concert. That means DeCampo and his bandmates have a little more than a month to make sure they qualify. So far, P.U.S.H. is near the top of the leaderboard. P.U.S.H. is currently in second place in the voting and had almost 1,000 votes as of Wednesday. "I don't think anything could touch it," said DeCampo, of opening for KISS. "Maybe the only thing would be joining them on stage for a couple songs." Opening for KISS would cap a landmark year for P.U.SH., a rock band founded in 2003 that is enjoying a breakthrough year. The band, comprising of DeCampo (guitar), Johnnie Black (lead vocals), Jamie Loud (drums) and Alan "Space" Chapman (bass), released its debut, self-titled CD earlier this year. DeCampo lives in Manchester. Black, who joined the band nearly a year ago, lives in Mount Airy. Chapman is a North Carroll graduate. P.U.S.H. performs throughout the region and most recently performed in Carroll at Genova's in Hampstead Friday. The set list included selections from their debut CD and covers of Van Halen, Buckcherry and Papa Roach hits. P.U.S.H. also performed "Rock and Roll All Nite," the legendary KISS single originally released on their 1975 album "Dressed to Kill." It's a cover DeCampo has performed dozens of times through the years in multiple KISS tribute bands. He is accustomed to donning white-and-black face makeup, just like his favorite band. While all four band members said it would be a dream come true to open for KISS before Friday's show, DeCampo seems to be the most enthusiastic about the opportunity. DeCampo said he also organized the Baltimore KISS Expo in 2001 and 2002. The event attracted about 600 people in 2001. He keeps an extensive collection of KISS memorabilia, including signed postcards and a pinball machine, at a room in his Hampstead home. "In my opinion, this is legitimately the biggest band in the world," DeCampo said. "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity." Stiff competition Several unsigned bands are competing for the right to open for KISS when the legendary rock band performs at 6:30 Aug. 21 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Va. The Guitar Center On Stage online KISS contest will help decide who opens for the band. P.U.S.H., a rock band with Carroll ties, is among the leaders in online vote getters. Here’s a look at the contenders to open for KISS: . P.U.S.H. Votes so far: Nearly 1,000 About the band: The rockers just released their self-titled debut CD and feature plenty of ties to Carroll. Guitarist Geo DeCampo is from Manchester. Alan “Space” Chapman (bass) is a North Carroll graduate. Lead singer Johnnie Black lives in Mount Airy.

Hey KISS, I just wanted to send you guys mail saying how much I admire you guys. I've been listening to your music for nearly four years now, and I'm just about to turn 15. I've been to one of your shows, at Bank Atlantic Center, last year, and it was better then I could have ever imagined. I can't wait to see a show this summer, my dad even said we'd get meet and greet passes, and many more after. I really admire you guys, its hard to believe you've been rocking since long before I was born, and your still awesome! I really appreciate all the music you've given us. Keep on rocking and best regards, Jackie

Fellows looking forward to seeing you in Raleigh again. My daughter and I love you guys. You rock the kind of music that never dies, I see that other groups are on tour but showing their age, birds, bands that need passports etc. But for true KISS Army members, one since 78' there never has been nor will there ever be a band like your. We love you we wanted to sit close, but i am disabled so it's grass passes again. That's ok just knowing we were near "LIVING LEGENDS" will be enough for us. Bless all four of you and please keep rocking. Mack From NC

Hi KISS,

I collect guitar picks and want to warn other collectors about something that happened to me. I really wanted to get some of the flag picks KISS was using on the European tour. I think this was the first time KISS ever had the German KISS logo on their picks and they really looked cool.

Well I made a mistake and bought a set from a seller online in the UK because the price was good and they looked fine in the photo. But what I got was ripped off. These picks are obviously fake. The quality is awful, the logo's crooked and I am out a lot of money for all the German picks I bought. Buyers beware, there are terrible cheap fakes out there and they all seem to be coming from the UK.

Joseph

NOTE FROM KISSONLINE: KISS is aware of the fake guitar picks currently circulating. This photo shows an example of the actual picks used on the Sonic Boom Over Europe tour compared with the fake picks buyers have been receiving from bootleggers.

If you're interested in adding KISS guitar picks to your collection, ensure you are purchasing official picks. KISSpickworld.com is the only licensee selling official KISS city tour picks, and they have the only remaining pick inventory left from the European tour. Official picks come with a foil-embossed collectible card featuring the country's flag and a statement of authenticity.

dear kiss hi my name is emma and i am 13 years old. i am from australia and absolutely love you. you are the greatest band in the universe. i have been to all your tours since i've been alive. i even went to one when my mum was pregnant with me. i also went to paul's live to win concert at the enmore theatre in sydney. i have posters, t-shirts and books of you. my dad has loved you for like ever and so have i. we have all your cd's and dvd's as well. my dad and his mate peter met paul, gene, bruce and eric in 1995 on a plane from melboune to sydney. he also met eric at the eddendale hotel in sydney a couple of years ago and we got an autographed picture. it was a funny story actually. dad and mum were lining up for a autograph and eric saw dad and said 'don't i no you'. so dad had a chat and got a photo. i hope you come to australia soon on the sonic boom tour and i hope to meet you. you are my rolemodels and hero's as i am a guitarist myself. i hope you can give me a couple of tips. just email me. love always emma of bathurst, australia. xoxo number 1 fan

Hey guys, i wrote to you last year about one of your concerts i attended in nashville, and i swear it rocked my world, i will be bored at every other concert. i wish i could go to one of your new hottest show on earth's tours, but i just don't think it will happen this year with the economy and all. anyways i am about to turn 16 and i have been i die hard KISS fan for a while now. my room is decorated with records and posters and all. but one thing i really wanted to tell you about is i went to the KISS coffeehouse in myrtle beach this year, and i swear that just made my fandom grow! anything i see KISS these days i have to have. And also, even though i don't know you guys personally, i like to think that yall have helped me to be my own person in a way, and i thank you for that. Eric, you rock those drums! Tommy, you wail on that guitar! Gene, you are an inspiration to me in so many ways, and even though you don't know that, i thank you deepy. And Paul, i honestly can say i wouldn't be where i am today without you. my goal in life is to meet the band, but if not them, at least you, you have inspired me to learn how to play guitar, possibly start a band, and made me consider so many other options in my life. And to all of you, you're music and persona's have created a flame in me that will never stop burning. You have made me not afraid to be myself, and to put everything into life, then take all you can out of it, and i live by that each day. i wish i could write more. i have so much more to say, but can't find the right words to say it. I will leave you with this though, i do not have a fatal disease, i wont die in a year, and i don't have too difficult of a life, I am only a teenage girl trying to make her goal in life of meeting the hottest band in the world, KISS!

My dad is typing this again because he erased my last letter (by accident sorry). You are my favorite band. I am 8 years old and have seen you 3 times once in my mommys belly and 2 times for real. Once in louisville where i live we all dressed up like dressed to kill. The other time was in indianapolis where we camped out and saw you outside. It rained at the end and i got make up in my eyes. My favorite song is Shout It Out Loud and my favorite band member is Paul. I want to see you this year if my daddy get tickets.
